• 1. What is the difference between an inverter and an inverter charger?

  An inverter converts DC (battery power) to AC (household power), allowing you to run AC appliances in your caravan. An inverter charger does this and also charges your batteries from shore power or a generator.

• 2. Can Victron inverter chargers take solar input?

  No, the battery charging component is an AC input, meaning only AC power (mains power) can charge through this unit.

• 3. What size generator should I use for charging a battery?

  The below generators are the minimum recommend sizes based on an AVR generator:

  If your generator is smaller than the recommended size for your inverter/charger, you will definitely need to adjust the settings on the inverter/charger and reduce the AC input current limit, and/or a DC charge current limit to prevent overloading the generator. If you do want an inverter based generator, get one that is at least 30% larger than required than an equivalent AVR based model to help prevent overloads.
