Enerdrive 40amp / 12v AC Smart Charger - Three Output
The Enerdrive ePOWER 40A AC Battery Charger is a fully automatic, “set and forget” charger. It is designed to quickly and accurately recharge your batteries using algorithms that help maximise service life. Multistage smart charging technology enables the charger to be connected to your battery banks permanently.
As dictated by battery manufacturer’s recommendations, batteries require a multistage charge sequence for perfect, fast and accurate charging.
The Enerdrive ePOWER charger can be programmed for Lithium batteries. This setting delivers the full rated output of the charger constantly with the charger switching to power supply mode once the voltage peak is met (indicating a full battery bank).
EXPERT TIP: The Enerdrive 50Amp, 60Amp or 70Amp breakers are common accessories suitable for the Enerdrive EN31240 40A AC to DC charger. Please see the optional accessories above.
40A Battery Charger Features:
- Multistage Charging: Fully automatic multistage battery charger with the ability to charge 3 separate battery banks.
- Separate Battery Banks: Isolated charging design where battery bank one is separate from battery bank two and three.
- Programmable: Battery bank 1 can be programmed with a different charge algorithm over banks 2 and 3.
- Current Control: User adjustable current output (e.g. Dial the 60amp unit back to run off a 1kVA generator).
- Smart Charging: The ePOWER 40A battery charger will regulate its output based on the loads connected to your battery banks.
- Wide AC Input Range: Operates on both 110V / 60Hz and 240V / 50Hz.
- LED Display: Easy to use “set and select” menu along with scrolling charger status.
- Silent Mode: Disables the cooling fan for total silent operation at night or whenever required. Activation reduces charge output by half and locks out fan for 12 hours.
- Temperature Sensor: Battery temperature sensor included with 7.5 meter cable.
- 5 Year Warranty from an Australian company renowned for customer support.

Can the Enerdrive 40amp 240 volt charger be set to charge at 60amp from a generator?
Hey, great question!
The Enerdrive 40A Charger will not be able to bet set to charge at 60Amps. You will instead need the Enerdrive 60A Charger for that.
This 60A charger can be used with an 2kVA Inverter Generator minimum for the 60Amps. If a lower generator is used, such as a 1kVA, you will need to adjust the charger to at least 40 Amps.

How do you suggest allocating the 3 banks to a 3bank charger to two lithium banks and one lead-acid bank ?
Hi- Only bank 1 can be set to a lithium charging profile. More information can be found from page 20 of the product user manual. Thanks

If this charges to 3 banks of batteries, Does the unit come with the necessary cables to connect to 3 battery banks? or could you please provide a simple diagram of how this is done.
HI There,
The charger will not come with the cables to connect to three separate battery banks. These would need to be supplied at your end.
For a simple diagram, please refer to page 20 of the user manual:

Hi, Is the 40 amp enerdrive AC charger suitable fo mounting up side down. Thanks Merv.
Hi There
The unit should be mounted vertically (with the battery terminals facing downwards). This provides the best thermal performance and drip protection.
The unit should NOT be mounted upside down.

I want to use a generator to run an Enerdrive Battery Charger like this - what is the recommended size generator?
Hi Tom – the most popular size generator to run a battery charger like the Enerdrive ePower series is a 1000 Watt generator, such as the Yamaha EF1000iS. It is lightweight, fuel efficient and very quiet.
Note that the Enerdrive ePower 60Amp Charger model will draw a max 1050 Watts of power, in which case you might want to look at a 2000 Watt generator if you want to get the full power of of your 60Amp charger. Alternatively, the ePower charger series have a Current Control feature, which allows the user to adjust the current output - so for example you can dial back at 60Amp charger to still run off a 1000 Watt generator :)
Many thanks.

Is this charger able to charge a calcium battery, the specs only mention Gel, AGM, Flooded, Lithium
Unfortunetely they don't have a Calcium charging profile. You would need to contact your calcium battery supplier and find out if they recommend one of the standard settings noted, ie Gel, AGM, Flooded or Lithium, and then set the chargers accordingly.
