Q & A
-
Which kind of extension cord should I buy to use with this panel so that I can move around my RV more easily?
More room may be created between your solar panels and the charge controller with the Renogy Solar Panel Extension Cable. Please select the same size of cable for the extension out of the available sizes. Additionally, please be aware that the line loss increases with the length of the extension. Longer runs will call for a larger gauge.
-
I want to expand my system; can I install more solar panels with the suitcase?
This solar suitcase is made to grow; more panels can be added to the system according to your demands and available space. For extension, we recommend adding the same solar suitcase. When you expand your system, keep in mind that the controller might also need to be replaced. The original kit had a 20A Voyager charge controller; divide the total power by the battery system voltage to obtain the current value, which can be used as a guide when choosing a controller.
-
Are the panels made of polycrystallin or monocrystallin?
The bag includes two premium Renogy 100W monocrystalline solar panels.
-
Which kind of batteries are compatible with the kit?
Compatibility of battery types is dependent upon the compatible battery type supplied by the charge controller. Renogy Voyager 20A PWM waterproof charge controller is included with this solar system. Gel, AGM, Flooded, and Lithium batteries are supported. Even so, after the battery is attached, please make sure it is installed correctly. If a lithium battery is connected, make sure the system voltage is manually adjusted to match the battery voltage. An additional feature is the lithium activation feature.
-
I want to expand my system; can I install more solar panels with the suitcase?
Indeed, depending on your needs and available space, more panels can be added to the system. For extension, we recommend adding the same solar suitcase.
-
How much electricity can I get with this solar kit?
The amount of sunlight received will determine how much power solar panels can create. 1kWh per day is the optimal output for this kit (calculated based on 200Wx5h predicted solar availability).
-
Is it possible for me to directly charge my 120v outlets with this suitcase?
The luggage cannot be used to directly charge 120V power outlets. You might also achieve the desired 120v output with an inverter and a 12v battery. The inverter would be able to provide the necessary 120 volts of power, while the panel would replenish the battery and store energy.
-
My solar panel is underproducing; why is that?
There are several reasons why solar panel performance could be compromised. Reduced power production is typically caused by environmental factors such temperature rise, overcast skies, indirect sunlight, and dirt and stain accumulation on the top glass.
-
What does the solar panel's product title's 12V/24V mean? Why does it differ from the figure listed on the solar panel's label or specification sheet?
The 12V/24V in product descriptions (e.g., 100W 12V Monocrystalline Solar panel) refers to the voltage of the energy storage system or solar system to which the panel is most suited, not the actual voltage (Voc or Vmp) of the solar panels. The solar panel's voltage needs to be greater than the voltage of the solar system.
