Can this fridge be used as a freezer?
Yes, on the NRX80, you can remove the freezer compartment and set the fridge to freezer mode. With this compartment removed in this mode, the entire fridge can cool to -6C.
For other appliances, such as refrigerators and air conditioners, to ensure the appliances to work efficiently and last longer it is recommended to clean the condenser.

What do I need to think about in regards of the ventilation with my Dometic compressor fridge?
Dometic Compressor fridges work best when there is air flowing across the compressor.
For small to medium sized Dometic fridges (NRX models 50 to 80), minimum of one Medium Sized Vent is required. This should be mounted in the van wall, parallel to the compressor at the top of the fridge.
For the NRX115 and 130 models, the Larger Sized Vents are recommended.
For the larger Dometic upright ranges (i.e. RUC, RCD ranges) which are around 150 Litres and above in capacity, two of the Larger Sized Vents are required; one at the bottom and one at the top.

What do I need to know about installing my 12v compressor fridge in my van?
Installation instructions will come with your 12V Compressor Fridge. The installation/manual document will also cover:
- Recommended ventilation
- Side and rear gap sizes for installing in your RV cavity
- Mounting
- Wiring
Depending on the model, there will also be information regarding; maintenance, cleaning, defrosting, energy saving tips, reversible doors, inserting new door panels and troubleshooting.

We recently purchased a Dometic NRC 80C fridge and are over the moon with the quality and efficiency of the product. It was easy to install and all tests have demonstrated it will live up to our expectations. The Dometic fridge maintained a 2 degree temp during very hot conditions. We found the fridge to be very economical with it's power consumption, we ran the fridge for 50 hours on a 100 amp hour battery with no additional power input. We are very happy with the layout of the fridge and the practical design. The removeable freezer component allows for added flexibility. We were very impressed with the option to allow for 240volt input. This will allow us to load and pre-cool the fridge before hitting the road. Many of the other brands we looked at did not offer this option.

Upgraded from the Gecko 57 Litre fridge to the NRX 80C 75 Litre Fridge and it’s been awesome. It’s amazing how 22 litres of extra space could fit so much more, which I believe is due to the dimensional design of the NRX 80C as it fits majority of the supermarkets’ product packaging nicely, especially the crisp containers. Based on the past month’s usage, when the compressor kicks in, it draws around 3-4 amps on Eco mode at medium temp, which is what it’ advertises as. When compressor is off, it draws 0.6-0.8 amps, barely anything so super happy with this. The only improvement I’d like to see is to include the mounting frame at no extra cost (or at least reduce the price) as these fridges are usually installed in campervans/caravans, so it’s actually a necessity rather than an accessory. The freezer section could be a little deeper to fit some of the supermarkets’ larger packaging e.g. T-bone steak as currently you would have to remove the item and put in a container to fit in the freezer. Delivery time was 3 days (I’m based in Sydney) so was quick and the purchasing process was simple and easy. Overall, definitely recommend the product and Caravan RV Camping, which had the best price.
